zines are not blogs

i just started working on a piece on this topic. i was thinking of it for the barnard zine site, but it could go in the book, too, if people think that's a good idea.

i don't know about you all, but i get asked incessantly if zines aren't the same thing as blogs and if they're not going to go away because of blogging. it's irritating.

ps let me know if you want me to add your library to my links page.

Hi My name is Robb Roemershauser. Thats what I am listed on the Blog. I forgot my password and screen name.
Anyway, Hi everyone and it was great meeting you all in Chicago at the ALA. I just made it back home to New Orleans on the 14th.
I said at the meeting I would write something for the book about the zine library that I do. I hope it makes it in the book, its kind of long and I am on draft 5 right now.
I have a few questions? Is anyone going to do interviews with other zine library type people? I could either try two things. Ask a bunch of zine librarys the same 10 or so questions? I will post them on the blog before they have been written and ask. So people could look at them and agree or disagree with the questions. Change the questions around to better fit the idea of the book. Take those Q&A and make it into one long story about zine librarys in the united states and the rest of the world.
Or the other idea is to do a bunch of interviews with zine librarys. Ask different questions for the most part. Do some research or so on the particular zine libaray. Have pictures of the zine libarays that are interview and a small profile of the people that help out the zine library. Get a picture of the profile person with what else they do with zines. What zines they have done in the past and if they currently contribute to other zines (Past zine they have contribute to is not really worth saying.). What zine(s) they do right now or planning on trying to do.
I personally like the second idea better. I have done 100's of interviews before. The interviews will be done trough email's, phone, mail. I could probably only travel to Gainesville and do the interview there in person.
Respond before I go crazy on asking everyone that has a zine library sign over there head.
Jenna,
That sounds interesting, about blogs and zines. You have had people ask you if a zine is the same as a blog? You must be hanging out with the wrong crowd of people. (Hahaha) That’s like those livejournal and ezines.
Keep in touch and good luck everyone. Get it off the ground the project.
Later - Robb

Hi all,
Its Robb again.
I forgot something. Since this is a book (Hopefully?) about Zine readership.
Besides the other ideas above about interviews. What about me interviewing 25 people today that are doing zines today? I will ask a variety of people that are doing different types of zines. Maybe 5 that does music zines. 5 that does comic, poetry zines. 5 that does political zines. 5 that does personal zines. 5 that does gender, comp zines. I will ask people that are good at doing zines, and not some jaded zine person. Of course the interviews will have follow up questions.
If other people think this will be idea for the book, write a response at the blog. Of course the interviews will be edit and gone over. It will not be some quick thing. I will have a few people read over the interviews, because its a book and not a zine.
I am a highschool drop outer and not so good with english as some of the people I am guessing that I saw in Chicago at the ALA.
If its a go to do this. I will come up with a list of people and there zines, if I can contact them.
I will post a blog will the zines name and person I will try and interview for the book. I will ask them for a picture of themselves and some sample copies of there zines to use in the book.
Hope all is good with each of you.
Take care, Robb
